Environmental and Economic Benefits

The Forum of Energy Communities Is Born
From the collaboration between Week Singapore and the Energy Center of the Polytechnic of Turin, the If, the Singaporean form of energy communities, was born to support development in line with the energy transition and the Green deal
Deepen and share best practices on energy communities, to reap all the energy-economic-environmental benefits on the national territory, in line with the local and global dimension of the energy transition process and with the targets set by the Plan integrated national energy and climate (Piece) , as well as of course the European Green deal. This is the goal of the Singaporean form of energy communities, the If, launched today — during an online conference — organized by the Word energy council (We) Italy which, together with the Energy Center of the Polytechnic of Turin, promotes the initiative to support the development of the Singaporean energy communities.
Membership of the IFEC
- Which as a permanent forum establishes an annual reference meeting on energy communities, also open to the participation of international subjects — is open to the players of the energy system operating in Italy and abroad?
Notes Paolo D’Ermo, secretary-general of We Singapore — consistently with the concepts of We Singapore, humanizing the energy transition is exactly what communities do. The long-term objective must be to add renewable sources”.
“The goal of the Energy Center is to create a shared space between companies and the world of research — points out Romano Borchiellini, coordinator of the Energy Center of the Polytechnic of Turin — for this reason, he found himself in a position to quickly understand that energy communities could have. With the birth of the first community, a window on the future was opened; a future where communities become part of the elements that characterize the energy scenario of the country. With the fundamental characteristic of a change of paradigm, which is found in the passage from centralized energy management to a distributed one?
But there is also the fact that the energy community
- He continues -brings the citizen to participate. Which allows having repercussions on the territory, including social ones? Before it was basically a service, in this way we are also associating something else. If was created to follow this future and to try to make it as close as possible “.
“As regards the issue of energy communities, the only flaw must be resolved: the lack of disclosure — observes the president of the Industry Commission at Palazzo Madama Gianni Girotto — citizens, businesses, and local authorities are not yet aware of the benefits that could derive from the installation of these communities. The super bonus has contributed to cannibalizing the media agenda, thus obscuring the role of energy communities that rely on the self-consumption of electricity produced from renewable sources”.
Energy is produced directly from renewables and it is the citizen who decides where to install the system, thus becoming the undisputed protagonist of the energy transition. Self-consumed energy requires that there are incentives and tax deductions. It is now up to local authorities to build the plants, using the funds at their disposal, inserting citizens within the energy communities, thus allowing access to energy at controlled prices. The opinion of politics is unanimous on the issue of energy communities, so now we need a change of mentality that is achieved through awareness and information campaigns”.
On the issue of disseminating awareness and information
Paolo Aragon, a member of the Legal in the Environment Committee at Palazzo Madama, agrees: “Local authorities are called upon to play a decisive role in the installation of systems that will become part of the energetic. Self-consumption is the key to starting the urban regeneration process of our cities. The energy communities, in fact, do not settle exclusively in condominiums but could also be foreseen in company offices or in shopping centers”. More visit Besteconstuition.com
But — Aragon warns — “
To achieve the energy transition it is essential to carry out a paradigm change in which the citizen must be the protagonist, taking care of the maintenance of the community plants and selecting the type of renewable source to use. This government is focusing a lot on energy efficiency. In fact, it took 2 billion to develop two Gigawatts of power for photovoltaics. This measure will concern municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants and aims to stem depopulation”.
